Hi, I'm Bethany.
I'm glad you're here. So this is the place where I’m supposed to tell you about myself, so that you can decide whether or not you think I can help you with the concern that prompted you to seek a therapist in the first place.
Many therapists generally use this page to describe their education, training, and any other information they think might be relevant. I'll get to all of that in a moment, but first, I want to share more about the type of client I tend to have the most success helping. That way, you can quickly determine if I might be a good fit for you.
The clients who are most successful in therapy with me are those who show up - ready to do the work necessary to bring about the life changes they are seeking. They also understand that I don’t have a magic wand that will make their problems disappear. These clients value the fact that I am an active participant in the therapy process with them, and that my office is considered a "no-judging zone." My clients also know that I don't expect them to have all the answers, and I understand that some days, they just need a safe place to share their concerns out loud with a neutral, supportive third-party.
Now that you have a better idea of whether or not I may be a good fit for you, here is some more about my background and experience. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Northern Arizona University and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia. I have been providing counseling, education, and support to adults and adolescents since 2005. My experience includes counseling at community mental health clinics, a grief support center, and an adoption agency. I have also taught Theories of Counseling as an adjunct instructor with the Department of Psychology and Sociology at Georgia Southwestern State University located in Americus, Georgia.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds. I welcome clients of different religions, ethnicities, and sexual/gender orientations. In addition to treating adults, I see adolescents, ages 15 and up, for counseling services.
Note: I receive many requests for couples counseling. Although that is not one of my specialties, I am glad to refer you to other local therapists trained in couples counseling. Feel free to call me directly, and I will be happy to provide you with their contact info.
I hope this information has been helpful for you in determining if I might be the right therapist for you or your adolescent. If you have additional questions, please feel free to call me at (229) 380-0560. I would love to help you get started today! If I'm not the right fit for you, I will be happy to help you find another therapist who might be right for you, based upon your needs.
